[3ds max] Beveling a surface using the Shell modifier
The goal: Give thickness to an object and define the edge’s shape using a spline.
This will work with a surface or a spline.
- Have an open spline ready to use. Create the spline in the Top viewport, and draw it from top to bottom taking into consideration that the top point on the spline is applied to the outside edge, and the bottom point to the inside edge.
- Add the Shell modifier to spline or surface.
- Under the Parameters section, select the Bevel Edges option and press the None button to select the spline.
- Tweak the spline if necessary to adjust the beveled edges.
